About me
My name is Abby, and I began training as a Postpartum Doula in October 2024 with DONA International. I've completed over 40 hours of workshops focused on postpartum healing and lactation, and I'm currently working toward my DONA International certification. Originally from Colorado, I moved to Pennsylvania with my husband in 2020.
When our daughter arrived, we were completely unprepared for the overwhelming changes and challenges that come with a newborn. We faced every struggle that new families encounter: sleepless nights, feeding difficulties, mastitis, jaundice, thrush, postpartum anxiety and depression, poor planning, and a desperate need for practical support. Despite taking every available class on newborn care, I still felt utterly unprepared the moment they placed my daughter in my arms. The chaos only intensified once we brought her home, with endless sleepless nights and constant uncertainty about what to do next.
My postpartum experience opened my eyes to the enormous gaps in care for new mothers and the shocking lack of practical support available to families adjusting to life with a newborn. I became so focused on caring for my daughter that I completely neglected my own healing from birth, which only deepened my postpartum depression and anxiety, leaving me utterly depleted.
It took several years of rebuilding and nurturing myself before I discovered a career path that truly ignited my passion—one that allowed me to become the mother and wife I'd always wanted to be. The moment I attended my first Postpartum Doula training, I knew I'd found my calling. I believe it's both a privilege and an honor to support someone during one of their most vulnerable moments while witnessing the most profound transformation a person can experience as they become a parent.
